Allotments

Over the years I have had 2 allotments, each time I had the same problems, I like to do things my own way but where I live things don't change. I would like a greenhouse and a small potting shed. I see these 2 items as essential because the season is shorter in Scotland and I don't drive. Don't get me wrong, we get a little bit longer days because we ar so far north and that makes up for the late start and early finish of the growing season. I wonder if anyone else has taken on the counsil and won. My last plot was about a third flowers, they were vandalised all the time as the old men on the site thought plots were for veg. only. Its frustrating. I love growing stuff, picking and cooking it and sharing stuff with friends. Eventually I want to buy a large plot of land and set up my own allotment. with each allotment being 1 acre plot holders would be able to keep pigs and chickens on their plots. 10 acres would be put aside for communal grazing, plot holders would be able to buy a share in a cow or sheep. I don't know if it will work or even if anyone will be interested in doing it. I think it could be an alternative way of farming. I dream more than most, I live in the clouds most of the time but its a great way to be. I dream about gardens all the time. So now I am about to take possesion of my 3rd plot. This time things will be a little different. There are more new plot holders now, young, old, male and female. Its a more laid back place. I am really looking forward to it now. Anyway, this was my first blog here. I broke my duck, Always the hardest part.

I hope things go well with your third allotment. Great dream for the future. If I lived nearby, I'd want one of your allotments! Jane
