This weekend has been fab - great weather, great company of family and friends, finally topped off with the erection of our neighbours' tent in our back garden on a pre-camping trial run. All we missed was some champagne! I even manage...
Hi Linette, sorry to have missed you too, though thanks for the post! I noticed the delphiniums were starting to peek out again and was very envious of the soil at the Manor! I am pleased the gardener remembered me - it seems like a really ...
Well, back in the garden this evening - this time pruning the beech hedge with my new hedge trimmer! The hedge runs all the way down one side of our garden and must be around 15 feet high, so it was a bit of a balancing act on the step ladd...
Hi All, I visited Toddington Manor today and was very impressed. Lovely to see such a well maintained and creative garden in my home county of Bedfordshire! Well worth a visit! I was inspired to get back and work on teh front garden. I have...
Hello again! My profile picture was taken earlier in July whilst having a camping break in Norfolk. My partner and I visited the National Trust walled garden of Felbrigg Hall - hence here I am blending in with the delphiniums! I would recom...
Hi All, I have been stuck in doors all day as have a rotten cold so have had a wonderful chance to catch up on my websurfing! I hope to start a part-time evening class horticultural qualification, perhaps at Shuttleworth College, Bedfordshi...

Hi Linette, sorry to have missed you too, though thanks for the post! I noticed the delphiniums were starting to peek out again and was very envious of the soil at the Manor! I am pleased the gardener remembered me - it seems like a really friendly team working over there; (rather talented at gardening too!)
Well, back in the garden this evening - this time pruning the beech hedge with my new hedge trimmer! The hedge runs all the way down one side of our garden and must be around 15 feet high, so it was a bit of a balancing act on the step ladder. I'm quite pleased with the result though I am not sure whether I tackled this too early (as I must confess to not wanting to prune again till next year!). It needed a tidy however, and will probably need another one by Sept/October, but by then I will be ready to have another turn!
Hi Jo, sorry I missed you to say hello to yesterday - one of the other gardeners said there had been a visitor who mentioned the garden network. Thanks for the good write up too! The delphiniums unfortunately have all been cut down now, as you saw, but they did look great about 4 weeks ago. Glad to have inspired your green fingers into action!!
Hi All, I visited Toddington Manor today and was very impressed. Lovely to see such a well maintained and creative garden in my home county of Bedfordshire! Well worth a visit! I was inspired to get back and work on teh front garden. I have cut back the hebes which needed dead-heading and think I may have completely massacred them! Fingers crossed they will grow back! There are so many stones in my garden soil. I have spent all evening trying to remove them and I still haev more - oh well, the sun is supposed to be shining tomorrow! Until then, x
Hi All, I have been stuck in doors all day as have a rotten cold so have had a wonderful chance to catch up on my websurfing! I hope to start a part-time evening class horticultural qualification, perhaps at Shuttleworth College, Bedfordshire, near where I live. If anyone has any comments to share about this, I would be happy to hear them!
Bye for now, Jo
