Summer, so we're told...
10:04 AM on 4 August 2009

Well my borders may be nice and busy, the sweet peas may smell gorgeous, my sunflowers may look impressive, but my lawns look a state through not having the time, at the right time, to mow them before we get yet more rain!

I have decided that next year I am going to plan my garden meticulously, on paper, so that I know what I have planted where, and what I have put next to each other. I ended up with poppies (that I didn't plant) drowning out everything that I did, consequently having to pull them out. My love in a mist I probably put in the wrong place or didn't plant deep enough, because although they have grown well, they are a bit top heavy and are leaning precariously over my footpath! My summer flowering bulbs are doing well, but I can't remember what they are. So yes, next year I will curb my enthusiasm to just have flowers everywhere, and plan it properly!

I wonder if next summer will be more like summer than this summer has been? Still, living in Gloucester, I'm just glad it's not 2007 all over again!
