Does any one have any good accounting software to recommend for a small landscaping business, but growing!

Thanks,

Hi all, I have just finished developing a Round Management System for Gardeners & Window Cleaners etc.
A free 35-day trial is available at www.snowdreamsoftware.co.uk
I'd appreciate hearing any feedback about it.

When I did IT, I use to use Quicken - really easy to use especially for non accountants. When I closed down that company and started my garden design business, I could not find a UK version of Quicken so approached my accountant. She recommended TAS Books which I had come across when it was a DOS application. I bought the TAS books Basic program for under £50 and it does what it should, but is not as easy to use as Quicken was. The good thing about TAS books basic is that it is no longer necessary to regularly update it if you combine it with the Tax, PAYE and NI online calculators and databases that are now available for free on the HMRC website. Tasbooks is now owned by Sage, which unfortunately means that you get people wanting to to sell you its bigger brother. To be honest, with these online calculators and databases from HMRC, you can probably do most things in Excel. No matter what route you go, don't forget to keep backups and/or paper records.

Stuart, If you are looking for a single company basic package then Alan suggestion is best, Try the Instant Accounts module. As they say 'it does what it says on the tin' and I have been using it for a small retail outfit and it works really well and we have been able to cut costs and chase slow payers. Quite a reasonable priced module too. Simple to use too.

Thanks Alan for the reply.

Is this what you use?

Trying to research for accounting software and some people say to keep clear of Sage - although many companies use it!!
