Are members aware of the new legislation for selling on door steps, giving the right to cancel etc.?

http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/consumers/buying-selling/Doorstep-selling/index.html

It will effect Gardeners, landscapers, etc. etc.

Your views?

I have a customer whose hedge is dying back and need some help please.

It is a Griselinia littoralis and is approx. 60m long with a dog leg. Probalb yabout 20 years old??

It started dying back, leaves, branches, stems everything; about 3 years ago and is slowly spreading to the whole hedge.

What could be the reason and would it be ok to replant similar in same position.

The garden is on the edge of a quiet road, 1 mile or so from the sea.

Why oh why do designers want to put pea shingle or other small stones next to grass areas? The general public see this and then copy these ideas?

Why the moan? One customer whom I do maintenance for has used some horrible stones bordering his lawns, resulting in another smashed window from my mower.

Nightmare!

I am looking for a solar pond pump to feed a small water feature OR nature pond with small fountain/waterfall; for a customer... garden to be in Sunny Brighton... which is a joke at the moment as all we have and going to get is RAIN!

Are there any decent products to use in this country or best to go for electrically powered?

Thanks.

After finishing my latest project, a new patio in Bognor Regis, I am now suffering from an achey back and sore knees. I have seen many different products for pointing of paving slabs....but which is best? The old fashioned, get on your knees and push the mortar into the gap or using one of the many jointing mortar compound systems?

Yes I know I could pay a lad to do it but, time is the essence. Also quality is the main issue. I do not want the pointing to break up in 18 months or so.

I also do not want to just sweep the mortar into the joints, like on GroundForce.....!!

What do the big companies use?

I find that a lot of people watch gardening programmes on TV, which are both educational and inspring. The only trouble is not one program realistically prices the work they show.

This has a knock on effect to businesses like mine, we go round to see customers, listen to their views and desires, go away and return with a price for the garden works. How ever, the price in real life for a new patio, walls and paths etc. is usually out of reach for most people.

If only these TV programmes would give a proper indication of what a properly built patio costs, or a garden clearance and even a fence.

Life would be so so sweet.
