Need an estimate - creating a garden from scratch

Hi,
I'm buying a house which has been fully renovated and the garden - well has been cleared out of rubbish. What needs doing is putting up a proper fence around (hopefully you can see this in the picture) and sorting out the grass (I suppose rolling it out) and whatever else that needs doing to prepare it for that.
I was wandering if anyone has a rough estimate of doing such a job with a professional or if we decided to do it ourselves how much would the materials be - the fence probably being the most expensive.
We would like to do it decent but quite basic decent lawn and regular wooden fence that's it.
The garden is 40ft.
Maybe you know a gardener that could do this? We are in North east London.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Hello Can't see any pics - it is a regular shape (ie square or rectangle?) If not could offer some feng shui advice that you can build into the design.

Atificial Pants are a great additions to a garden, but it is important for them to go with the proper selection. Also you need to make sure that you have enough light comming into the room to keep them healthy and green. If you match all of that having plants in the garden looks nice and gives it a nice effect. I have an artificial plants which may give tropicle look to to your garden.

I am more of a fan of live plants. Although - there is place for artificial plants of course. I think for the outside though, a well planned garden should bring you colour most of the year round -with an opporutnity to move and change with the seasons. If you need any help - let me know. |

Rough prices for a good landscaping firm in North London. Fencing price you must allow about £80-100 per metre for materials and installed. Materials per linear metre of fencing about £50-60 depending on fence.
Turfing of a garden Average price per metre for turf in about £2-4. I would price for removal of whats there, rotavating the plot, some new top soil, level and compaction of the area and to supply and lay the turf at between £10-20m2.
The best way to work out the cost is per square metre for your lawn and per linear metre for your fence.
I know a few landscaping firms that work in N. London, one of which i used to work for a highly recommend. thegardenco.co.uk are based in Hemel Hempstead and will cover your area. Also 'Capital Gardens' were good when i was working in the area.
Hope this helps Tom, TAG Landscapes |
