Hadlow College - one of the top three land-based colleges in the United Kingdom

All of Hadlow College's degree programmes are validated by the University of Greenwich....

Hadlow College - an overview
Based in Kent, Hadlow College is one of the top three land-based colleges in the United Kingdom. We offer a range of part-time, vocational and degree level programmes suitable for those aged 16+. All of our degree programmes are validated by the University of Greenwich.

Hadlow College facilities
Our horticulture students benefit from a 1.3 hectare glasshouse complex for commercial nursery production; a fruit production unit; medicinal gardens and field production capabilities. We work with leading national retailers and are committed to providing state of the art facilities such as a computer controlled irrigation system and dedicated Landscape Training Centre.

On-site we play host to Broadview Gardens, a 10 acre landscaped site which is open to the public and comprises two national plant collections as well as awarding winning gardens. Both staff and students of the garden design faculty have won numerous prizes, including Gold at both Hampton Court and the Kent County Show.

Hadlow College - life on campus
On campus we offer a range of entertainment which varies each year depending on the interests of students and in addition our Student Services Support Team organise a variety of activities, the majority of which are free to join.

The on-site gym has recently been improved and contains a number of cardiovascular resistance machines such as treadmills, cross-trainers and rowing machines as well as a weight training area.

Throughout the campus we promote healthy eating and offer a selection of meals to cater for a wide variety of tastes. Regular theme days take place throughout the year for events such as Chinese New Year; St Patricks Day and Christmas.

What our students think of Hadlow College
This is the only university programme which I have ever found that inspired me enough to want to learn to this depth. Having found the course on the internet whilst considering a possible career change, I decided to come and look at Hadlow. The friendliness of the staff combined with its relaxed setting, gardens and specimen trees convinced me I would enjoy myself. The College has a great family feel to it and, unlike some higher educational establishments, there really is nothing daunting about it. James Pashley, BSc Medicinal Horticulture.

Hadlow has got such a broad prospectus with programmes that cover the practical aspects as well as the art and design elements. The modules within the course also work well together, with subjects that might not immediately seem design focused like ecology and conservation providing you with a broad base of knowledge onto which you can bolt on some background theory Annie Bear, HND Garden Design.

Throughout the course there is a good balance of practical lessons combined with classroom theory. The on-site facilities also help with this, we can see how commercial nurseries work and also get a chance to look around the landscaped gardens. Oliver Ramsey, National Diploma in Horticulture.
