Sparsholt college Winchester
6:19 PM on 6 March 2008

Hi , i am a 39 year old full time student at Sparsholt. i am studying landscape practices. on my profile i am the one on the left, out for a days boat fishing last summer in the solent close to where i live.

I gave up life as a boaring Engineer after 24 years . I am now looking forward to a new career in the great outdoors.

Going back to further education at my age was quite daunting.

I am now half way through my course and loving every minute, getting pretty intensive now though.

I would like to work for a landscaping company doing design and construction. my course has equiped me with knowledge of Hard and soft landscaping features, also design skills, business , and plant and soil science.

Cannot wait now til the course finishes and i can get stuck in and get my hands dirty.

Good luck with it all Paul. I did the same . I originally trained as a Norland nanny and after working with children for 17 years, decided to go back to college, studying horticulture, then garden design and garden history. I have now been working as a garden designer for the past 6 years and i'm so glad i made the change

Hi Paul, Good to hear you're enjoying your college course - remember to tell all your fellow students about the network - it would also be great for you all to keep in touch after you finish in june and even help each other out!
