I need to redesign a South facing border backed by an evergreen hedge. Any ideas for a planting plan? I would like all the colours and planting to hang together.

I have a drought resistant planting scheme we have just put together for one of our customers. If you send me a message with your e-mail address I will pop it over to you. It even has copyright free pictures so you can show the customer what they will get.

Plants that thrive in sunny south facing borders will tend to be able to survive drought conditions. They tend to be plants with silvery foliage. Plants to consider are lavender, cistus or rosemary (which I love) scluptural plants are good as they add interest at the end of summer as the dried flowerheads can be left till autumn. Agapanthus, Miscanthus & Pennisetium and also Russian Sage-Perowkia which is a lovely late summer plant with tall lavender blue flowers.. Anyway thats just some ideas that pring to mind hope thats of some use to you..
