How large must a shed be to have to have planning permission to erect one.

We have recently purchased a shed which is over 20ft long to use as a club house and our council has demanded we apply to the District Council for planning permission.

Can anybody help please.

A warning has gone out to all organic gardeners and allotment holders to be aware that Herbicides containing Aminopyralid used to spray pasture is causing widespread damage to the following vegetable crops; beans, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and others. It is getting into cow and horse manure by the following ways; the animals grazing on the pasture and hay being purchased from outside sources. It is water solluble and passes through the animals very quickly. The manufacturer, Dow AgroSciences Ltd has set up an advisory note for allotment holders and gardeners at http://www.dowagro.com/uk/grassbites/fag/allotment.htm

Our garden & allotment club visited this garden last Saturday 12th July and It is the view of all the members that it was gardens well worth the visit. Work on restoring these gardens only stated in 2001 and considering the small team of gardeners and volunteers they have made excellent progress. Potatoe Hulm Blackened, Runner and French Beans along with courgette and marrow plants decimated on our allotments as the night time temperature plummeted to 0 degrees here on the sandy soil of Breckland. Even though I personaly took the precaution to cover my potatoes and beans I have also suffered some frost damage. The weather of the previous week had lulled everybody into a false sense of security but as the old saying goes "never cast a clout untill May is out". On the garden front many people lost their bedding plants so the only winners are the garden centres and other retail outlets as people replace the lost plants. We was hoping for a good year with our potatoes after the whole potatoe and tomatoe crop suffered from blight last year, most of thge allotment growers on our site are organic, and we are surrounded by farms that one of the major crops are potatoes so we have to live with chance of blight every year. Thats enough doom and gloom for now, we just have to look on the bright side and it's not too late to sow more beans and courgettes after all being a gardener means you are an eternal optimists anyway.

Busy, busy week-end planting out all my beans, peppers and tomatoes and weeding here on my allotment.

These past few weeks everything has gone from nothing to rampant as it has been hot here in Thetford, and our soil is now crying out for rain, even though we heavily manure and mulch where we can.
