Siting of Oil tanks - rules and regs.
8:48 PM on 30 May 2008
I have an OFTEC registered company, and we are doing quite a few oil tank changes. It made me wonder if landscapers and designers were aware of the implications of new oil tank installations. We have to notify all installs to building control and OFTEC - either can randomly inspect an installation. There is however no reason why you guys cannot build bases and put in oil lines if you know the rules - leaving the testing and final connections to an OFTEC registered technician. (photographic evidence of oil line install should negate any need to dig up and check !)
It would also be wise to try and conceal tanks locations as theft will soon be rife as heating oil has nearly tripled in price in 3 years.
Why not consider a underground oil tank.
If any body is interested message me !
