Hi Sylvia You are leaving things a bit late. Take the cloches off the caulis if they are bursting out. Your courgettes should have been in the ground a long time ago but you should get some fruit albeit a bit late. I dig a hole a spades ...

hello, can any body tell me how to grow cougettes? I have planted seeds and have three plants growing in the green house. They are flowering but don't know what to do next. I also have cauliflowers and cabbages under cloches in the garden. Do I leave these on to protect from bugs and the like? The next thing is potatoes I am late planting but would like to give it ago can anyone tell me what the outcome may be? Any help would be fantastic I am a complete beginner and struggling. Many Thanks
Thought the weather might have something with it, we had some terrific weather late april and all of may had hardened veg off and thought it safe to plant out then out typical scottish summer returned and we have had copious amounts of rain, wind and really cold nights since then, think we have seen the last of the sun up here. The garden had also not been cultivated for years and I may not have added enough compost. Am planning to start most things off from seed for next year, this will also give me something during the drab scottish spring
I loved this garden! Was pleased to see it got gold. I think we should be doing everything we can to teach children where their food comes from and the barley looked great.
mange tout were bought as small plants which I potted on when they were about 8 inches tall and quite sturdy plants they were planted out and since then it has been downhill all the way. I only turned the garden over this don't think it has been cultivated for many years could this have anything to do with it. Also I live in Scotland and our summer weather leaves a lot to be desired. My tomatoes have very few trusses on them for the size of the plants (about 6ft)
For anyone going to Hampton Court check out Dorset Cereals "Living Playground" I helped nuture the cereals from seed had a few problems with the sparrows eating the barley
