Hello all!
Welcome to all our new members, over 1600 now since March!
Polls
Our new Member Polls seem to be proving a hit, with around 150 votes cast so far, including some revealing comments. Its great to see what our gardeners are up to in their own gardens at the minute - busy planting and growing veg by the looks of things. Some interesting views are also coming out of the 'Future industry trends' Poll too, as British sourced materials seems to be at the forefront of predicted future developments currently with 33% of the vote.
Member Conduct
After a couple of recent posts, we thought it timely to outline a few basics on the current Defamation Laws.
As a website owner (as with any other website, large or small) by Law we must remove defamatory content from the site, once it has been officially brought to our attention. Recent legal cases have set a precedent for this in the courts, specifically involving user content type websites such as this one. Libel is as relevent online, as it is in any other form of published material. Alongside the publisher, the originator is open to prosecution too.
Its not a case of taking sides in any dispute, or indeed any form of censorship. It is however current legislation, and we are all bound by it - small business websites included. We don't agree with the current legislation, and believe it urgently requires change to reflect new media publishing on the internet. Unfortunately, disagreeing with it or ignorance of it is no defence! If you think the same, write a letter to your MP!
Feedback
Many thanks for the positive feedback we have been getting, glad to see so many are enjoying our unique approach to meeting and sharing! More new stuff is on the way this week too, so look out for it...
Happy networking!
