Garden Design
10:07 PM on 19 May 2008

Hi

I'm new here found this after looking for garden design. Basically, I'm looking for tips for a good design. I haven't decided if I'll have it all paved or decked it. Perhaps combine it. Can someone give tips on this. I want to know which one is better.

Hi Rosie,

Have you got a photo of what your garden is like at the moment? it would help to suggest what to do. Its always a good idea to combine materials, rather than go 'all out' for just one surface. and on the flip side, dont try to have too many materials in the garden, or it can just end up looking like a garden centre! Paving is more durable and doesnt end up slippery in the wet (or if you have a shady garden) but decking can make life easier if you have slopes or eneven surfaces in the garden.
Go on...Post a picture!

You could consider our platform system, or our 'Solterranean' concept - our basic concept is that when you create any large surface with a thermal mass, why not incorporate plastic pipework to turn the area into a basic solar panel - you don't have to use it now - it can be capped for future use, but why not tap into the free heat ? It can also be used to heat small swimming pools or provide free warm water for hand washing in the garden. Our decks can also be fitted with rainwater collect - if you have any ideas let me know.
