Why oh why do designers want to put pea shingle or other small stones next to grass areas? The general public see this and then copy these ideas?

Why the moan? One customer whom I do maintenance for has used some horrible stones bordering his lawns, resulting in another smashed window from my mower.

Nightmare!

Hi

I'm new here found this after looking for garden design. Basically, I'm looking for tips for a good design. I haven't decided if I'll have it all paved or decked it. Perhaps combine it. Can someone give tips on this. I want to know which one is better.
